My disappointment with the "Weather Channel"

Having suffered through watching the TV and basically the "Weather Channel" these past weeks, I have some personal observations on this TV outfit.
They run a commercial stating that they are "meteorologists, scientists" and that this "males a difference". Really?
I'll attempt to explain.
First we had hurricane Harvey, which was very bad for the folks in southeast Texas. This was a very big storm and very powerful. No doubt about that fact at all. What made it odd was it moved quite slowly, it made landfall three times. Now that IS odd indeed. It made first landfall, hung around dropping torrential rainfall. It then moved back into the Gulf of Mexico, then made its second landfall and dumped even more rain of an already soaked Texas coast. Then, oh boy, it went back into the Gulf again and finally made its third landfall dumping more rain on a now flooded southeast Texas. he Weather Channel focused mostly on Houston. Well, sure, Houston is the biggest city near that hurricane. Some smaller cities/towns South of Houston were basically wiped off the map. Well, old Jimmy Crapstory wasn't there so, big deal. Yeah, I am damn tired of Cantory (spelling).
Now, these meteorologists on this TV channel claim to be scientists, but they seem to be unaware of global warming. Yes, OK, granted Harvey was a very odd ball hurricane, but holy crap, doesn't global warming have even the smallest possibility of being partly the reason that storm was so unusual? My opinion says YES.
Now we move to the newest hurricane to hit the US of A. Yep, hurricane Irma. Long before it was even close to the US mainland, it had become a category 5 storm. This is the top of the current system for classifying hurricanes. It stayed at cat 5 for days. The blonde bimbo (meteorologist/scientist) on this TV channel was going on and on about how this was so very odd for any hurricane to be a cat 5 for so long. At the same time, this same TVchannel was telling the world, or those who watched this TV channel how warm the Caribbean was. Sea temps near Irma were in the upper 80 degrees F, even reaching into the low 90 degree F. Now that IS damn warm to most of us. Remember, this is open ocean water we are talking about. Sherie and I took a one week vacation to the Bahamas in the late 1980's and the ocean temp was nearly as warm as our backyard swimming pool in SoCal. It was very nice to be honest. It sure made getting into the waters around the island easier. Usually you go to an ocean beach in the US and the water is way cooler than the air temp. Takes a minute or three to get used to the water temp.
We have been told, and it seems to be fact, that warm water feeds the power of hurricanes. So, to this old, physically broken down machinist, the very warm, damn near hot, surface temps of the Caribbean/Gulf waters made both Harvey and Irma way more powerful than past hurricanes have been. Yep, even Katrina and Rita, the last hurricanes that caused serious damage along the US Gulf coast. The last hurricane to effect central Louisiana was Gustave back in 2008. That is nine years ago folks. My feeling, Louisiana is way overdue for a big hurricane.
Back to Irma and the weather Channel". The blonde on the morning show was also ranting about how supposedly some idiots were using 'social media' to say that Irma was now a cat 6 or even a cat 7. This gal got hyper about how there "is no such thing as a cat 6 or cat 7 hurricane'. True, the system only goes to cat 5 as of today. The thing is, with global warming producing ever more powerful storms, not just hurricanes/typhoons, at some time in the near future, these 'scientists' are going to have to add a cat 6 or even a cat 7 to their list.
Again, this gal was ranting about how powerful Irma had become and had stayed at a cat 5 for sooooo long. She is supposed to be a meteorologist and therefore, according to this channels' own commercial, a scientist, yet she seemed to be totally unaware of global warming.
OK, maybe I should give the channel the 'benefit of the doubt' and say that they may get into serious trouble if they mention global warming. After all, both houses of congress (I will NOT use a capital "C" for that gang until we have more than a very small handful of honest members in BOTH houses) deny that global warming is a fact. Oh, and our president, the orange haired moron also does NOT accept that global warming is anything except a plot by the Chinese to destroy 'Merikkka. With 'leaders' like these, the US of A is in deep, deep shit folks.
Well, old Walter P. Kronkat has had his rant for now. As always, please be good to each other.

Well, it sure has been a long time
